My journey with Harrison’s started many years ago now. I had just purchased my first Cockatiels, they seemed fine until their first molt. All their flight & tail feathers dropped out, their poo turned runny & bright green, Pickle stopped eating. I was only 13 & convinced they were going to die. We took them to see a wonderful vet who tested them & found that they were in early stages of liver disease. She not only told us of the dangers of seed diets but was passionate about Harrison’s. We decided to give it a try as there was nothing to lose at this stage. After only a few days they completely transformed & were so much better. By the time they went back for a checkup, not only were they better but their feather condition was incredible. We said how impressed we were with Harrison’s & I will never forget her words “people need to know about this. Spread the word guys, just spread the word.”

I have been passionate about spreading the word ever since. Seeing the power of good nutrition started a calling. At first, it was a whisper, then it grew into a shout. I knew I needed to rescue Birds who have poor nutrition & use Harrison’s to get them better. I eventually had my dream come true when for my birthday one year my parents said that I could have a fish tank or an aviary to rescue pet Birds…. I am so glad I never got that fish tank! Over the years I have had the most remarkable Birds bless my life, all of whom improved so much with correct nutrition.

Now my absolute passion is rescuing disabled Birds or Birds with illness, feather destructive behavior or behavior challenges. Every one of my flock members has a little something, whether it be a leg pointing in a funny direction or violent behavior around white bags, they all have a difference or deformity that just makes them shine. They are my wonky flock! To others they are not the perfect kind of Bird, but to me they are everything. It is amazing that whatever their difference, a large contributing factor is always diet. Good nutrition is often the most important puzzle piece in helping them live their best life. I have chosen to work with Harrison’s because I have seen first-hand the remarkable results. There is just nothing that even comes close to Harrison’s. I hope that by writing for the wonky flock I can encourage people to take that step & let their Harrison’s journey begin. I also hope that you can feel the magic of my precious babies & take away the message that different is beautiful.
